Atomyx.io is a cloud-native print production platform that connects your order sources, prepress tools, and production systems through a single API layer. Launched by the team behind Four Pees, Atomyx consists of three products: Atomyx Manage, Atomyx Submit, and Atomyx Prepare. Each solves a different part of the automation challenge, and together they create an end-to-end workflow from customer file submission to press-ready output. This guide explains what each product does and how they work together.
What is Atomyx?
Atomyx is an API-first, 100% cloud-based platform designed specifically for print and packaging. It acts as a central gateway between your online order sources, your production systems, and your customers. Because it runs entirely in the cloud, it scales on demand and requires no on-premise infrastructure to maintain. Furthermore, Atomyx connects natively with web-to-print platforms, MIS systems, and local automation tools including Enfocus Switch through a plug-in architecture. Full platform documentation is available on the official Atomyx site.
Atomyx Manage: connecting your production systems
Atomyx Manage is the hub of the platform. It acts as the API router and production dashboard where all connections come together. It receives orders from multiple sources, transforms and normalises the data, and routes jobs to the right downstream systems automatically. Consequently, your team works from a single dashboard rather than switching between disconnected systems and inboxes.
Atomyx Manage connects to order platforms, web-to-print shops, MIS and ERP systems, file sharing services, RIPs, and local automation through a growing library of ready-made plug-ins. In addition, it gives every team member a visualised view of production status at every stage. Manual intervention remains available when needed, but the platform automates as much as possible. The result is fewer manual handoffs, less re-keying of data, and a clearer picture of where every job stands.
Submit: customer file intake without the friction
Atomyx Submit is a branded customer portal for artwork upload, preflight, and order submission. Customers upload their files directly into the portal, which immediately preflights them against your production standards using Atomyx Prepare. Customers then see any issues right away and can make minor adjustments such as rotating, mirroring, or scaling artwork without needing to re-upload. As a result, files that previously required multiple back-and-forth emails arrive already validated and production-ready.
After preflight, the portal generates a proofsheet showing how the file will look when printed, including production-specific requirements such as die-lines and eyelets. The customer approves the proof, and the job flows directly into Atomyx Manage with all order data, files, and preflight results attached. There is no re-entry at the production side, and the portal carries your company branding throughout. For print operations handling high volumes of customer-supplied files, this is one of the most significant time-savers in the platform.
Atomyx Prepare: cloud-based prepress automation
Atomyx Prepare is a SaaS API that handles everything a print file needs before it reaches the press. Built on callas pdfToolbox technology (the industry standard for PDF processing), it checks files against PDF/X, PDF/A, GWG 2015, and GWG 2022 profiles, applies automatic corrections, converts colour spaces, generates previews and proofs, and handles specialty preparation including adding undercolor white, creating die-line layers, and preparing files for tiling or finishing. Because it operates as a pure API, it integrates into any application: your web-to-print platform, your MIS, or a custom workflow, with no desktop licenses or on-premise infrastructure involved.
The practical benefit is significant. Rather than prepress operators manually checking and fixing each incoming file, Atomyx Prepare handles the bulk of that work automatically. Therefore, operators focus only on genuine exceptions. This delivers the same result as automated PDF preflight in a traditional on-premise workflow, but entirely from the cloud at API speed.
How the three products work together
Each product works independently, but together they cover the full order-to-production pipeline. A customer uploads artwork through Atomyx Submit, which immediately runs Atomyx Prepare in the background. The customer sees preflight results and approves a proof. The approved job then enters Atomyx Manage, which routes it automatically through your production chain. At no point does a human need to touch the file for a clean, standard job. Consequently, production capacity increases, errors decrease, and customer communication about file problems largely disappears.
For operations already running on-premise automation such as Enfocus Switch, Atomyx Manage connects directly, so the cloud layer and the on-premise layer work together rather than replacing each other.
Is it the right fit for your operation?
The platform works best for operations handling significant volumes of customer-supplied files and orders from multiple channels: online print shops, commercial printers, wide-format companies, and packaging producers. However, because the products are independent, you can start with one and add others as your needs grow. Usage-based pricing means there are no large upfront license commitments.
