Print workflow automation. Vendor-neutral specialists.Your print production
should run itself.
Over 35 years solving real production bottlenecks for print businesses worldwide. Transparent, vendor-aware, no hidden agendas.
// sound familiar?
Still burning hours on work that software should handle?
Manual prepress bottlenecks
Your operators spend half their day checking files, fixing PDFs, and chasing artwork instead of running presses. Every rejected file is money left on the floor.
What file checking really costs →MIS that doesn't talk to production
Estimates, job tickets, and press schedules live in three different systems. Data gets re-keyed. Errors creep in. Nobody knows what's actually on press.
Why re-keying costs more than you think →Slow turnarounds costing you work
Competitors are quoting and shipping faster. You can't keep up without burning your team out.
Where turnaround time really goes →Software sold, not solved
You've bought workflow tools before. They weren't configured for how you actually work. They gathered dust. The reseller moved on to the next sale.
Why workflow tools gather dust →// what we do

// tools we work with
We know these tools inside out
autoM8.print is a callas software channel partner (licences, renewals and upgrades), and our team is certified by both Enfocus (Certified Switch Expert and Certified Flow Designer) and callas software (pdfToolbox Basic Technical Proficiency and Variables & JavaScript, Advanced). We tell you upfront wherever we have a commercial relationship, and we always recommend what fits your operation, including better use of tools you already own.
// how it works
From first conversation to hands-free production
Workflow audit
We map your current operation, find the pain points, and identify the highest-impact automation opportunities. No cost, no obligation.
Custom blueprint
A plain-English automation roadmap: what to do, in what order, with what tools, and what the ROI looks like. Transparent about all vendor relationships, always.
Build & integrate
We configure and test your workflows around your live production schedule. No disruption, no "big bang" go-live, just steady progress.
Handover & support
Your team is trained, documentation is in place. We stay on hand as your workflows grow and evolve.
// who we help
Built for the way your sector works
Commercial print
Short runs, tight deadlines and a steady stream of customer PDFs. We automate preflight, imposition and job ticketing so files go from inbox to press without an operator touching every one.
Wide-format and signage
Large media, mixed shapes and print-and-cut finishing. We automate nesting, cut file generation and colour so less media ends up in the skip.
Packaging and labels
Colour accuracy, dielines and approvals matter as much as speed. We automate checks, colour conversion and approval routing so jobs are right before they reach press.
Publishing and books
High title volumes, with covers and text arriving separately. We automate file intake, page and spine checks and routing so every title is checked the same way.
Online and web-to-print
Thousands of small orders from customers who are not print professionals. We connect storefronts to preflight and production, and handle files from tools such as Canva.
In-plant and corporate
Internal customers, office documents and pressure to prove value. We automate intake and checking so a small team can handle more work, with numbers to show for it.

Something else on your mind? Ask us directly or book a call.
How much does print workflow automation cost?
It depends on what you automate, which tools you already own and how many systems need connecting. Rather than quote a figure without seeing your workflow, we start with a free discovery call, then a workflow audit that gives you a costed roadmap, so you know the investment and the expected return before you commit. Use the contact form to start that conversation.
Is there a cost for the workflow audit?
The first step is a free discovery call, with no obligation. If an audit makes sense, we agree the scope and cost with you before any work starts. We look at how jobs actually move through your business and give you a plain-English blueprint to keep, whether or not you work with us.
Are you independent, or do you sell software?
We are transparent rather than tied to one vendor. autoM8.print is a callas software channel partner, and we tell you upfront wherever we have a commercial relationship. Our recommendations are based on what fits your operation, including making better use of tools you already own.
Which software do you work with?
Mainly callas pdfToolbox, pdfaPilot, pdfChip and the callas License Server, Enfocus Switch and PitStop, ColorLogic colour management and Atomyx, plus integrations with print MIS and web-to-print platforms such as Omikai and Keyline. If you use something else, we will tell you honestly whether we can help.
Do we need to replace our MIS or web-to-print system?
Usually not. Most of our work connects the systems you already have so job data is entered once and flows through to production. Replacement only makes sense when a system genuinely cannot be connected, and we will tell you if that is the case.
How long does an automation project take?
It depends on scope. We phase projects so that the first improvement, often automated preflight on your busiest intake route, goes live early and starts paying back, rather than waiting for one big launch.
Will automation replace our prepress team?
No. It removes the repetitive checking, fixing and re-keying, so experienced people can focus on the exceptions, quality and customer work that need their judgement. It also means the business no longer depends on one or two people knowing how everything works.
We already own Enfocus Switch, PitStop, pdfToolbox or other callas software. Can you help?
Yes. Many businesses own capable tools that are only partly used. We review existing Switch flows, PitStop Action Lists and callas profiles and process plans, fix what is fragile and extend them to more of your work. We also handle licensing, upgrades and maintenance renewals across the callas range, including pdfToolbox, pdfaPilot, pdfChip, pdfGoHTML and the callas License Server, whether it runs on premises or as SaaS.
Do you work outside the UK?
Yes. We are based in the UK and work with print businesses worldwide, remotely and on site.
What happens after go-live?
We train your team, document what was built and stay on hand for support, so the workflow keeps delivering as your business changes.
// print workflow automation
What is print workflow automation and why does your business need it now?
Print workflow automation replaces manual, repetitive production tasks with software-driven systems that run consistently and at speed, without human intervention at every step. For commercial printers, packaging businesses, publishers, and in-plant operations worldwide, the case has never been stronger.
Industry research shows that inefficient manual job processing can cost print businesses up to 20% of their annual revenue. The fastest-growing operations are investing in end-to-end digital workflows, reducing errors, cutting turnaround times, and freeing their teams to focus on work that actually requires human expertise.
// the prepress bottleneck
For most print operations, prepress is the single biggest manual bottleneck. Automated preflight using callas pdfToolbox or Enfocus PitStop eliminates the majority of this by checking files against PDF/X and GWG standards automatically, applying corrections, and routing clean jobs onward without operator involvement.
// why transparent advice matters
autoM8.print has over 35 years of hands-on print production experience. We work with a broad partner network and are transparent about those relationships, so you always know the basis for our recommendations. The difference between a workflow that looks good in a demo and one that runs reliably at 2am without anyone watching it is experience. That's what we bring.
